About us

Rabbi Royale schonbrun

Restoring the glory of Torah:

Rabbi Royale Schonbrun, a musmach of Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim, has been involved in many communal endeavors and harbatzas torah over the last 20 years.
Over the last several years, it has become apparent that even though the amount of Torah learning has increased drastically, some of the learning is lacking the depth and analysis that opens up the beauty of Torah and the brilliance of Chazal to all of us. Even if there might still be Torah analysis in some Yeshivot, for the majority of people, these analytic skills, were nonexistent or forgotten as they went out to the work force.

What we do

Weekly Torah magazine

Weekly Torah magazine on the Parsha – The Torah magazine is meant to be used by both for adults and children at the Shabbos table. The Torah magazine has three divrei Torah, one for each meal and parents are encouraged to  work through the dvar torah with their children and to encourage them to try to figure out the question and answer. This will not only bring excitement to the Torah and the Shabbos table, it will begin to teach the analytical skills to the children to enhance their Torah learning in the future.

Weekly “Analyzing Chazal” video

Weekly “Analyzing Chazal” video – Each video picks one Chazal from the weekly Parsha and goes through it step by step from the Pasuk to the commentary, explaining how we got to the question, how we got to the answer and the practical application. Within the video we also set up the necessary information in order for the listener to try to get to the question themself before we actually speak out the question ourselves. The goal is that through wathcing the video each week, each person will pick up the skills to start changing the way they view Chazal.

Live Shiurim

Live Shiurim – These will be 15-minute shiurim once a week. This is meant to enable the participants to analyze the chazal together with the magid shiur giving the participants the opportunity to come up with questions and analysis themselves with assistance from the magid shiur. By doing the analysis with the Magid shiur it enables the participants to progress more quicky in learning how to analyse the words of Chazal themselves. The next step will be having the participants prepare a Chazal that they chose and analysed and present it to the shiur with guidance from the magid shiur.

Coming Soon – Educational curriculum – We are taking many of the Divrei Torah that were given over the years and are dividing them up based on age appropriateness and rewriting them to be used as a tool for Rabbeim to teach and accustom the children to learn the words of chazal on a deeper level as well as to begin to appreciate the beauty and depth of the Gedolim of prior generations.

Once the curriculum is ready we will be meeting with principals and teachers to explain how to implement the program into their respective schools.

Our vision

Our vision is to bring back analysis in the learning of everything from Chumash to Navi to Gemara with the commentaries of Rashi and Tosfos to bring out the depth and excitement in all parts of Torah for Ba’al Habatim, Bnei Yeshiva and children. We are starting with the skills necessary to analyze Chumash and we will continue with other parts of the Torah as well.

For chumash, we will do this through a combination of weekly sheets on the Parsha which parents can learn with their children either at the Shabbos Seuda or one on one, weekly videos and live shiurim where we breakdown the chazal to teach the skills. We will also be creating a curriculum for educators to use for different grades to enable the skills to be taught at much earlier ages.
